The Anti-aging Avocado-Honey Facial

Did you know avocados have several health benefits?  You don’t just have to consume them to reap the benefits either!  I’ve often wondered what I should do with an overripe avocado.  I love avocados so much and they are not cheap.  Instead of throwing away your overripe avocado, give yourself a facial!

Avocados contain a considerable amount of the master antioxidant glutathione.  This antioxidant supports the liver and the nervous system and is responsible for replenishing and recycling other antioxidants in the body.  The avocado is also one of the most alkalizing foods available.  They are very high in vitamin E which is essential for glowing skin and shining hair. 

I eat at least half an avocado every day with my poached eggs at breakfast!  I also use avocado oil on my face at night as a moisturizer and I apply it to cuts and scars to help them heal.  Here is a great idea for a facial to help moisturize your skin on the outside while the avocado is working its magic from the inside.  Why honey?  Honey is an excellent compliment to avocados for your skin!  Honey is a natural antibacterial.  It is great for the treatment and prevention of acne.  Just like avocados, honey is full of antioxidants which assist is slowing down aging.  It’s moisturizing and soothing characteristics help to create a natural glow to your skin.

Ingredients

• 1/2 avocado
• 1 tbsp local honey
• 2 tbsp warm water

Directions

1. Carefully slice avocado in half (try this tool)
2. Remove pit.
3. Scoop flesh from avocado (try this tool)
4. Mash avocado flesh.
5. Take warm water to dissolve the honey.
6. Combine dissolved honey to the mashed avocado.
7. Using your fingertips, apply the mixture to your clean face.
8. Avoid your eye area.
9. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
10. Gently rinse.
